A recent 300+ pages report “A Transportation Plan for New Jersey” from Princeton University, USA, has proposed a 16,000 km PRT network in New Jersey State at a cost of over $110 billion (this is only 5x the cost of Boston's 13 km network of freeways !).
Researchers found that such huge state wide PRT network would not only replace over 90% of cars and buses in the area of its coverage but would also be profitable. It proves that the era of PRT is finaly here, as it won't take long now for PRT to proliferate. And because MISTER is best PRT in terms of technology, cost and functionality, therefore we believe that we will also soon be building our systems in many cities around he World.

Revolution in city public transportation systems

Prototyp kolejki

MISTER is a new, innovative public transportation system for cities, where small (car size), fully automatic, driverless vehicles (or Pods) travel independently suspended under an overhead network of light guideways,  5 to 10 m above street-level.

All rides are only on passenger demand, so there are no timetables and no predefined routes (like for taxis). Pods are usually waiting for passengers at many small stops along the network, in shopping centers, offices, hotels, hospitals, schools etc. Since there are more Pods than average daily demand for them, hence you almost never have to wait, except sometimes during rush hours. Only the Pods carrying passengers (and some empty ones being relocated by the computer system to fill the vacant slots at popular stops) are in motion. If there is no demand (e.g. late at night) then pods are all waiting at the stops, ready 24x7 to go wherever you want.

Pods are only for individual trips (you, families or friends going together - max 5pax per vehicle), therefore provide absolute  personal safety. All Pods, stops and network vicinity are constantly monitored by cameras, therefore assuring your additional safety. Rides take place from any stop directly to your selected destination stop, without any break during the journey and with an average speed of some 50 km/h.

Stops are off-line (like petrol stations along motorways), therefore they do not obstruct the flow of traffic on the guideways. The ticket cost is that of a bus fare but you ride in luxury comfort in the aircon vehicle, with multimedia services and enjoying the city views.

Because the cost and time of MISTER development per kilometre of network is some 50 times lesser than metro, yet the passenger-kilometer capacity is only some 5 times lower, therefore overall performance of MISTER system is approx. 10X better than metro. At the same time operating expenses are several times lower than metro, buses or tramways. MISTER has a realistic carrying capacity of 6,000 “passengers per direction per hour” as compared to 3,000 for buses and tramways and 40,000 for metro. However the average speed of transportation is some 50 km/h as compared to 30 km/h for metro and 10-20 km.h for bus/trams.

As a result, MISTER is definitely suitable for the application in busy downtowns as heavy traffic city public transit system.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy - Waldemar Pawlak as well as Minister of the Environment and President of the Climate Conference COP14 in Poznań - prof. Maciej Nowicki - put their signatures on MISTER gondola. Ministers visited MISTER stand on “Technologies for climate protection” exhibition. As Prof. Maciej Nowicki stressed: The exhibition is a unique event on a world scale, as it presents a whole spectrum of possible technical solutions designed to protect the climate of the Earth. The selection of exhibits was very rigorous and lasted many months. Drawing on his knowledge and experience gained over many years, Minister Nowicki gave his personal opinion on all the proposals. Only the most important and most spectacular human achievements were qualified for the exhibition. The other criteria which the organisers applied included: easy implementation of the presented installations in the other parts of the world, including the developing countries, and the possibility of having their interactive, attractive presentation at the exhibition.

The MISTER system consists of 4 main elements:

  • Aerial (3D) infrastructure - columns supporting light guideway structure. Power rails to supply energy to the vehicles (like railway).
  • Small, 1 to 5 person automatic vehicles (Pods), electrically powered from external traction. Deadweight 300 kg, payload 400 kg.

  • Small OFF LINE stops, which therefore do not block any main-line traffic
  • Distributed but integrated computer systems

Benefits of MISTER over other systems

  • Higher throughput (better than buses, light rail/tramways or even metros - for the comparable development cost).
  • No collisions - maximum safety.

  • Individual and direct travel between starting  and destination points - no queuing, no delays and no congestion.

  • Comfortable with climate control, information system and multimedia entertainment.

  • Personal safety - no pickpockets, no attacks
  • 100% accessible at all stops for wheelchairs and mothers with push chairs
  • Major reduction of transit times between start and destination (average speed of 50 km/h).

  • Major reduction of air pollution (small electric motors, no exhausts, no oils or tires).

  • Substantial reduction in energy consumption per payload unit (approx. 10% of bus).

  • Major reduction in cost and time of infrastructure development, even along inner city roads.

  • Major reduction of real estate demands for infrastructure.

  • Anti-terrorist structure, due to “target dispersement”.

  • Anti-flooding characteristic, as it operates 6+ meters above the ground.

  • Reduction in remaining road vehicles congestions, accidents, traffic jam.

  • Logistics transportation, refuse removal in designated Pods - a reduction in the number of trucks delivering/collecting goods within city.
